Built by Abarth & Co in 1967, this 1000 Berlina Corsa conforms to the Group 2 regulations then in use.

The car is thought to have been a ‘cliente’ car when new, being raced outside Italy. An amount of Oyalian hill-climb history has been established during the 1070’s.

The car  is thought to have been a ‘cliente’ car when new, being raced outside Italy. An amount of  Italian hill-climb history has been established  during the 1970’s.

After being acquired by Tony Berni (the renowned Italian Abarth specialist), the car was restored by Leo Aumuller in Germany. The vehicle retains all its original fittings and fixtures including a very rare AH cylinder block.

In recent years, this 1000 has benefited from service work by Middle Barton Garage. In consequence, the car is immediately drivable, both as a road car and a competition car.

Engine 

The engine has just been rebuilt by MBG, with new pistons, bearings, seals, valve guides/valves etc.

Original Abarth AH block with74 mm Abarth crank and rods/pistons.

Hausermann flywheel and clutch

Roller camshaft with big valve head (600D based).

Weber 36DCD and competition Marelli distributor.

Split magnesium sump with external Carello oil filter/pressure relief system.

Short Abarth water-pump and header tank

Abarth oil breather ‘tower’ and catch tank.

Abarth twin pipe road exhaust and competition ‘Stinger’ open exhaust

Transmission

5 speed Fiat Abarth  transaxle with LSD and Abarth drive-shafts. A 'long' fifth gear has been fitted for road use but the original close ratio fifth gear is included.

Brakes

Girling three pot callipers on all four wheels with ’lobster claw’ hand-brake system

Suspension

‘Semi pendulari ‘ front suspension with Abarth steel cross member and rose jointed anti-roll bar. Big hubs and drop spindles.

The rear is 600 based with big hubs, uprated springs/dampers and a rose jointed anti -roll-bar.

Wheels

5.5 x 13 Campagnolo alloy wheels OE Capagnolo 5.5 &6 x 13 wheels are included for display use)

Cooling

Front Abarth water/oil radiator with electric fan.

Interior

Fully trimmed with Abarth Jaeger instruments, Abarth steering wheel and leg supports.. Custom made FIA six point roll cage with door bars and under-dash bar.

Exterior

Finished in factory grey with red side stripes and red chequered roof. Front Abarth shield and enamel scorpion badge(factory competition cars were not over badged!)

Parallel wiper system, reinforced engine lid and reinforced rear panel/engine mount/suspension mounts etc
